Team Top-G Triumphs in NESC 2023

In a thrilling showcase of skill and teamwork, Team Top-G emerged victorious in the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023, an event organized by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI). Their triumphant performance not only crowned them champions but also secured them a highly sought-after spot in the regional qualifiers of the Global Esports Games (GEG) 2023. Now, Team Top-G is gearing up to compete against Malaysia and Mongolia in the regional qualifiers, with their sights set on earning a place in the global finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Under the astute leadership of Manav Kunte (mnz), Team Top-G, featuring the talents of Krish Gupta (Krish-), Khaja Hussain (Pinkman), Ketan Goyal (Evil-ash), Vishal Vernekar (Hbk), and substitute Darshan Bata (A35), showcased exceptional gameplay throughout the tournament. In a dramatic best-of-three finals showdown, they secured a resounding 2-0 victory over their formidable opponents, The Mob.

Team Top-G had previously represented India in the Asian qualifiers of DOTA 2 for the 15th World Esports Championships earlier in the year, establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with on the regional stage.

Manav Kunte, Captain of Team Top-G, expressed his elation for the hard-earned victory, saying, “Winning the NESC 2023 for the second time this year is a surreal feeling. Securing our spot in the regional qualifiers for GEG23 is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and skill set of every team member. We want to express our gratitude to ESFI for providing the platform for us to represent India on the global stage, and we are determined to make our nation proud.”

The finals unfolded with intense competition, with the first game witnessing a neck-and-neck battle between the two teams. Team Top-G managed to edge out their opponents, The Mob, with a score of 51-32 to take the lead. In the second game, Team Top-G demonstrated their dominance, overpowering The Mob with a convincing score of 24-6, securing their place as champions of NESC 2023.

Notably, prominent players Vishal and Ketan from Team Top-G were also part of the historic DOTA 2 team that clinched the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Esports Championships in 2022, further solidifying their reputation as elite esports athletes.

Mr. Lokesh Suji, Director of the Esports Federation of India and Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF), congratulated Team Top-G on their outstanding performance. He stated, “By successfully qualifying for the regional qualifiers of two of the biggest Esports tournaments in the world, they have established themselves as the best DOTA 2 team in the country.
