Asian Games 2022 Esports India Roadmap : IOA Meets ESFI

Asian Games 2022 Esports event will begin soon. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA)and Esports Federation of India (ESFI) have come together to plan the esports roadmap.

For this, there will be team selection in India. The best performing teams and players will be ‘Team India’ at the main event. 

Asian Games 2022 Esports 

Recently it was announced that esports will be included at Asian Games 2022. Some famous PC and Mobile Esports games like PUBG Mobile, DOTA 2 and FIFA will be played as medal events. 

A number of qualifying tournaments across India will decide the players going to Hangzhou, China. There will be ‘RDAG Tournaments’ for various games. 

Moreover, these tournaments will begin in February 2022. The last date of Indian Team’s “Entry by Name” is April 15, 2022


IOA met the ESFI team at Olympic Bhawan in New Delhi. They discussed the preparations and training roadmap for Asian Games 2022 Esports.

The Olympic Council of Asia recognises the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) as the the only governing body for Esports in Asia. 

It is also in charge of Esports technical conduct at the Asian Games. ESFI, a recognised Asian body in India, has been sending esports teams to Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games since 2007.

In the most recent Asian Games (2018), India received a Bronze Medal in HearthStone. Tirth Mehta represented India in HearthStone and won.

However, it was a demonstration event. Esports will make its debut as a medal event at the Asian Games this time. It will be live from September 10 to September 25.

To sum up, esports will finally be a part of this glorious event. The Government of India is recognising esports which is great news. Passionate gamers of India will once again show their true potential!
