Asian Games 2022 Qualifiers

Asian Games 2022 Qualifiers for PUBG Mobile & Arena of Valor are on hold

Esports Federation of India has put the Asian Games 2022 Qualifiers for PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor on hold. EFSI announced this in a recent Instagram post.

Since the government of India banned the two games, the qualifiers for Indian team cannot start as of now. ESFI will host them only if the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports clarify this situation.

In addition, Krafton announced back in 2021 that players can play PUBG Mobile Asian Games through the BGMI version of the game. However, we are not sure if it is the same case still.

Qualifiers for PUBGM & AOV will be on hold

The post by Esports Federation of India reads:

“Since PUBGM & AOV are banned in India, we have sought clarity from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), till that time qualifiers for PUBGM & AOV will be on hold. We will soon announce the National Qualifiers for other titles. We will keep you posted on further updates.”

The selection of the Indian Teams for Asian Games 2022 was supposed to start from the first week of March. However, ESFI did not post any notice in the first week of March.

However, ESFI posted the notice of delay of Asian Games 2022 Qualifiers for PUBG Mobile and AoV on the 11th of March. We do not know whether or not the Asian Games 2022 qualifiers will resume. However, given the record of Krafton, we believe it will soon come to the rescue.

As mentioned earlier, Krafton said that players could play PUBGM qualifiers through BGMI. We believe, Krafton will take similar steps if the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports do not allow the request to ESFI.

As ESFI mentioned, we will soon get more updates on Asian Games 2022 Qualifiers in the coming days. Till then, all we can do is wait.
