Asian Games Esports : National Esports Championships Begin On 18 April

Asian Games Esports will feature some popular mobile and pc games. The National Esports Championships (NESC) 2022 begins on 18 April.

ESFI is hosting the event for all the esports titles to select Team India. The winning teams/players will represent India at Hangzhou Asian Games 2022.


The NESC ’22 will be held for five popular Esports titles—DOTA 2, Hearthstone, FIFA22, Street Fighter V, and League of Legends—as part of the ‘AESF Road to Asian Games’ programme. 

However, the qualifiers for PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor are still on hold. ESFI has asked MEITY for clarity on this. 

Meanwhile, over 200 top esports athletes from across India have registered for the tournament, which will run until April 24. 

For the first time, esports will be a medal sport at the 2022 Asian Games, with the top performers from the NESC ’22 competing for the chance to represent their country at the prestigious multi-nation event.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ESFI will host the NESC ’22 online , with top athletes from across the country competing and showcasing their skills and strategies.

Asian Games Esports : Players & Teams 

Single-player games Hearthstone, FIFA22, and Street Fighter V, on the other hand, will attract 13, 60, and 16 athletes, respectively, as top stars such as Tirth Mehta (Hearthstone), Siddh Chandarana and Lokmanyu (FIFA22), and Aditya Verma (SFV) compete for a spot in the Asian Games.

For DOTA 2, 13 teams will be competing and 4 teams will fight in the LoL matches. 

Mr Vinod Tiwari, President, Esports Federation of India & Director, Olympic Council of Asia – NOC & International Relations, said –

In conclusion, with Asian Games Esports, everyone will recognise esports and its importance. It will show that esports is no less than actual sport, and can be a career option too.
