Indian DOTA 2 and Rocket League teams have qualified for the Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022. The Indian Rocket League team emerged as the champions of the South Asian regional qualifiers. On the other hand, the Indian DOTA2 team was the runner-up in the region.
The esports championships will take place along with the Commonwealth Games 2022 on the 6th and 7th of August. The venue for the event is International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham, UK. Furthermore, CEC is the pilot esports event for the CWG, featuring three games: DOTA 2, Rocket League, and eFootball™.
The Indian Teams in The Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022
The Indian DOTA 2 and Rocket League have booked their slots in the CEC 2022 through the regionals qualifiers. Both teams showed tremendous performance and will be playing against the best team across the globe in the main event.
The Indian Rocket League Team:
- Hargun Singh (In-game Leader)
- Nirjhar Mehta
- Rushil Reddy Yarram
The Indian Rocket League won all three matches in the South Asia regional qualifiers and emerged as the champions. The team won their first match against Pakistan with a scoreline of 3-2. Later, they won the next two matches with a scoreline of 3-1 and 3-0 against the Maldives and Sri Lanka, respectively.

- Abhishek Yadav
- Shubham Goli
The Indian DOTA 2 team won both rounds against Sri Lanka and one round against Bangladesh and Pakistan, finishing as runner-up behind Pakistan.
Moin Ejaz, the Indian DOTA 2 team captain, said, “We are happy and a bit disappointed as we were expecting a clean sweep. We will continue our grind and have to study good teams.”
Both the teams showed great performance in qualifiers and made the country proud. They will be fighting against the best teams from across the globe in the Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022.
