FIFA 22 Update 9 Patch Notes : EA Removes Russian Content

FIFA 22 Update rolled out recently with a big change in its content. EA has removed all the Russian content from the Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and all other modes.

The conditions between Russia and Ukraine have been intense since February. 

Later in March, EA announced that both their NHL and FIFA game series would take a stand of “solidarity” with the people of Ukraine.

EA stated in the pledge that they had begun the process of removing content. But traces like advertising boards for Russian oil firm Gazprom – were still discovered after the statement.

FIFA 22 Update 9 :

EA announced FIFA Update 9 through social media. A blog post has mentioned all the details of the patch.

Title Update 9 is now available for the PC (Origin/Steam), PS 4, PS 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia versions of FIFA 22.

Patch Notes :

EA has made the following changes –

Career Mode in FIFA 22 Update 9

  1. EA removes the Russian national team and other Russian teams from the competition. 
  2. Added a new intro video for the CONMEBOL Sudamericana competition.


The dev team has solved the issue of the goalkeeper not dropping the ball when requested.

Pro Clubs 

The dev team has made the following revisions –

  1. If players selected the Russian national team or any other Russian team kit, the update will change it to PSG.
  2. Players can choose from a variety of kits.
  3. The default stadium will be Pro Clubs stadium, replacing the Otkritie Bank Arena. 
  4. Players have the option of selecting a different stadium.
  5. Items for customising the stadium with a Russian theme have been removed.

To sum up, players will no longer see Russian teams in FIFA 22. EA has also stopped game sales in Russia and Belarus until the war conditions resolve.
