Free Fire India Changes Its Social Media Names to Free Fire Max

Free Fire got banned in India with 54 apps. Garena has changed the name of its official handles to ‘Free Fire Max’. This is the very first official update after the ban.

On 12 February, Free Fire India disappeared from the Google Play Store and Apple Store. No official notice came.

Fans speculated that it is because of some technical issue. Garena officially responded that they were looking into it.

On February 14, news came that the Government of India has banned 55 apps including FF. It was due to the security concerns.

The previous name for the official handles was ‘Free Fire India’. But now the new Instagram and Discord name is ‘Garena Free Fire Max IND’.

Since FF Max isn’t in the list of banned apps, it looks like it will be the main focus for Garena in India.

FF Max is a remastered version of FF. It has higher quality graphics and thus higher spec requirements. Garena launched it in September 2021.

All the Indian fans are sad after the ban. Famous streamer Total Gaming wrote on Twitter that currently there are no updates.

On the other hand, the unban will take atleast 6-8 months of time. Earlier, the government banned Chinese apps including PUBGM.

It took a lot of effort and almost a year for the game to come back as BGMI. Krafton set up its subsidiary in India. They further had to make changes to the game like damage effects.

Just like PUBG Mobile, the FF competitive scene will get affected. This isn’t good for the growing esports world in India.

To sum up, fans will have to wait for further announcements. Hopefully, Garena will come up with a solution soon.
