PUBG Mobile will be a medal event at the Asian Games 2022. For the first time, Asian Games will feature esports. It will feature some of the famous pc and mobile titles.
PUBGM is the only battle royale esports title. Soon after the news came of PUBG as an esports title, Krafton announced the development of a new version of the game.
PUBG Mobile at Asian Games :
Person-to-person shooting will be prohibited in the Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile, according to a report by South Korea’s Money Today, quoting a Krafton official. Instead, players will be judged on their driving and shooting abilities.
This means that Tencent may remove the PUBG battle royale experience for Asian Games. According to the report, this is due to concerns that it would “harm the harmony” between countries.
Also, other titles – AOV, Tekken, DOTA 2, LoL, Street Fighter V have some amount of violence in them.
Asian Games depict the togetherness of countries. Therefore, shooting each other can’t be a part of the event. It’s not surprising to see something like this occur.
When the International Olympic Committee (IOC) voted to strengthen ties with esports last year, the body’s president, Thomas Bach, stated that they will not include the video games that promote violence.
He claimed that this was due to the games’ violation of “Olympic values.”
PUBGM : Asian Games Version
The company said that all the Asian players will be able to play this new version through the existing versions. For example – BGMI for India and Game for Peace for China. The Asian Games Version will be playable through these versions.
The new version will be entirely new. Tencent may bring some new modes on shooting accurately or driving. A new racing mode has come to Cheer Park in the recent update.
To sum up, Tencent will reveal more details on this soon. It will be interesting to see new modes for the Asian Games.
