The famous American game development studio Respawn Entertainment LLC became the first-ever Gaming studio to win an Oscar.
Respawn Entertainment is the developer of the famous Titanfall video game series, and Apex Legends. Respawn wrote this wonderful news yesterday on Twitter.
About the documentary:
‘Colette’ is a short film in the Oculus VR game ‘Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond’. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) this year.
For the first time, a video game industry initiative has received an Oscar. Oculus Studios and Respawn Entertainment presented this documentary. After that, The Guardian purchased and published it.
Story and Direction:
Anthony Giacchino directed Colette. The film is the story of Colette Marin-Catherine, a French Resistance survivor. She returns to Germany for the first time since the end of World War II to visit a slave labour camp where her brother was murdered.
The game ‘Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond’ could not create a great impact due to huge installation requirements. In contrast, the film winning an Oscar can create a positive impression on the audience.

Moreover, Respawn shall continue to produce remarkable documentaries in the future. This is something new and noticeable about the gaming industry. Gaming Studios can create and direct amazing films with all their creativity.
