Russian CSGO Teams banned from BLAST Premier Events

According to a recent tweet, BLAST Premier won’t be inviting any Russian Team to its events for the “foreseeable future”. Moreover, they have cancelled the CIS qualifier due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

BLAST Premier is a global professional CSGO Esports League based out in Copenhagen, Denmark. It has been organising tournaments since 2020 and has made quite a name for itself over time.

Response of BLAST Premier on Russia-Ukraine Conflict 

On the 1st of March, BLAST Premier announced via a tweet that they will not invite any Russian team in BLAST Premier events in the light of ongoing conflict. Further, BLAST apologized to all the fans and players for cancelling the CIS qualifier. They believe it was not the appropriate time for the event. 

Further BLAST added, “Gaming and esports unite people from all races, countries, and beliefs. We hope the situation on the world stage reflects this as soon as possible.”

The Reaction of Professional Players to the Russian Invasion in Ukraine 

The Esports and Gaming community, including game publishers, professional players and content creators, have shown their support towards the ongoing Russia-Ukraine Conflict. 

Kyrylo “ANGE1” Karasov, a player for FunPlus Phoenix, said he woke up in the morning to the sound of explosions. 

Vlad “Kiles” Shvets, a player in Acend from Ukraine living in Spain, has his family in Ukraine. In a recent tweet, he said that his family is safe. Further he added, “It seems absurd to me that we come to this in our era, what a disaster everything.”

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, a professional CSGO player from Ukraine, reacted to the current situation via a tweet. It reads, “I cry thinking about my family and friends in Kyiv. I’m “lucky” that I’m not at home, but you can’t even imagine how much I want to be there. Tomorrow I want to think about IEM Katowice and only We don’t need regrets, We need support, thank you everyone who cares.”
