FunPlus Phoenix Emerged as the Champions of VCT Masters Copenhagen

FunPlus Phoenix defeated Paper Rex at the VCT Masters Copenhagen Grand Finals and claimed the ultimate title of champions. 

Both the teams showed an excellent performance, but FunPlus Phoenix triumphed over Paper Rex and won the championship. The grand finals ended with a scoreline of FPX 3-2 PPX.

Thanks to their outstanding performance during the VCT EMEA Challengers series, FPX qualified for both Masters events this year. However, they have struggled to travel to international events due to visa issues. FPX was unable to attend Masters Reykjavk due to visa complications. Furthermore, they were without Dmitry “SUYGETSU” Ilyushin for the majority of Masters Copenhagen who showed an impressive performance in the grand finals. SUYGETSU was able to join the team after they were pushed to the lower bracket by losing against Fnatic.

VCT Masters Copenhagen Preview

The grand finals of VCT Masters Copenhagen was played in a best-of-five series. Both the teams gave their best resulting in a nail-biting finish of the championship. Here’s a quick recap of what happened in the Grand Finals.

Map Veto: Paper Rex picked Bind and Fracture, whereas FunPlus Phoenix picked Icebox and Haven. Breeze was the decider map.

Map No. 1: Bind

Although Bind was PPX’s pick, it did not work in their favour. In the first half of the map, PPX won only one round, whereas FPX won 11. The match ended with a scoreline of FPX 13-3 PPX.

Map No. 2: Icebox

Iceboxwas picked by FPX, but like the first match, it did not work in FPX’s favour. PPX showed an excellent performance in the first half of the map with a switch of PPX 9-3 FPX. Both teams won four rounds each in the second half and PPX won the map with a scoreline of PPX 13-7 FPX.

Map No. 3: Fracture

Fracture was picked by PPX, but it did not work for them either. The first half ended with a scoreline of 6-6, but FPX stepped up in the second half winning seven rounds. PPX only won one round in the second half, losing the map. The map ended with a scoreline of FPX 13-7 PPX.

Map No. 4: Haven

Haven, being FPX’s pick, did not work for them again. PPX had a great start at the map with a switch of PPX 7-5 FPX. They showed consistency in the second half and won the map with a scoreline of PPX 13-7 FPX. 

Map No. 5: Breeze

In the decider map, Breeze, FPX showed a great start with a switch of FPX 7-5 PPX. In the second half, won the map after winning another six rounds, ending the map with a scoreline of FPX 13-9 PPX.

The long journey of VCT Masters Copenhagen has finally come to an end with FunPlus Phoenix emerging as the champions. All the teams showed their best performances, but only one team could win the ultimate title. FunPlus Phoenix have won themselves a massive first prize of USD 200,000. It will be exciting to see whether FunPlus Phoenix shows consistency in Valorant CHampions, the main Valorant event of the year.
