Wild Rift has become a very popular game now. It has become a part of the esports world too. Riot Games have officially announced the League of Legends: Wild Rift Southeast Asia (SEA) Championship 2021.
There will be 21 teams from Southeast Asia and Oceania. In contrast, there is a big prize pool of $200,000. Also, the champions of the event will get to participate in the Wild Rift World Championship 2021.
LoL: Wild Rift SEA Championship
In Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, the teams will compete in the SEA Icon Series.
The tournament will also include the winner of the ESL Wild Rift Mobile Open Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) Championship 2021.
There are following stages of this grand championship –
- Play-ins: Sept. 14 to 19
- Group Stages: Sept. 23 to 26
- Main Event: Sept. 30 to Oct. 3
The slots distribution for the competition was revealed on Twitter by Ban “ChisinX” Chee, project manager for Wild Rift esports at Riot Games SEA.
The winners of each Icon Series in Southeast Asia and the Oceania Championship will advance to the group stages automatically.
Except for Oceania, each region will receive one slot in the play-ins. Moreover, Riot will award an additional play-in slot if the area finishes in the top four during the Summer Super Cup in June 2021.
Because they won the Summer Super Cup 2021, Thailand’s Evos Esports is guaranteed a spot in the play-ins.
If the club does not finish in the top three in the SEA Icon Series Thailand playoffs, they will cut Vietnam’s play-in spots into two to make room for EVOS.
Riot Games will reveal the further details very soon. Moreover, the Australian and New Zealander teams shall participate through Oceanic Qualifiers.
