League of Legends: Wild Rift has generated an overall revenue of $500 Million

League of Legends: Wild Rift, a MOBA mobile game by Riot, has generated an overall revenue of $500 Million. 

Since its release in October 2020, Wild Rift has become one of the world’s top mobile MOBA games. According to a report by Sensor Tower, Wild Rift has generated the second highest revenue in the first half of 2022, after Honor of Kings. Wild Rift has generated USD 128 million, whereas Honor of Kings generated $1.4 billion. On the other hand,  Brawl Stars generated USD 149.5 during the same period.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is Riot Games’ third and most successful foray into the mobile sector. The company’s first mobile game, Auto Chess title Teamfight Tactics, released in March 2020,  has picked up $299 million to date, while Card Battler Legends of Runeterra, launched in April 2020, has generated more than $24 million. Combined, Riot Games’ mobile portfolio has accumulated $828 million in the 16 months after it entered the space. The company’s next mobile title is set to be Valorant, based on its hit PC shooter of the same name.

Wild Rift is Riot’s third game and so far the most successful one. Teamfight Tactics, an Auto Chess game by Riot, was released in March 2020 and has earned $299 million to date. Legends of Runeterra, which was released in April 2020, has earned more than $24 million. 

In the 16 months since it joined the market, Riot’s has generated a revenue of $828 million in total. The company’s upcoming mobile game, Valorant, will be based on its popular PC shooter of the same name. Valorant Mobile has been under development for a long time, and it will be interesting to see how it performs. 

League of Legends: Wild Rift generates highest revenue in China

League of Legends: Wild Rift’s main revenue-generating market is China, where it is published and run by Tencent. The game has earned $364.6 million in the country to date (App Store sales only), or 72.2% of all player spending. The game’s strongest month ever in terms of sales started on October 8, 2021, when it was released in China, bringing in almost $79 million globally. With 6.8% of total lifetime income spent by international players, the United States comes in second place, followed by South Korea at 3.7 percent.

It’s important to keep in mind that Sensor Tower only considers revenue from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Revenue from any external app stores is not included into the report. Since China has banned Google Play Store, users make purchases through alternate app stores for Androids. China is one of the biggest international markets for mobile gaming income. Furthermore, China contributes the highest in revenue generation of League of Legends: Wild Rift.
