Skyesports has unveiled an exciting collaboration with The Indonesian Embassy of New Delhi for an esports showdown at the India Gaming Show, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Indonesia in 2024. The 6th edition of the India Gaming Show 2024, a prestigious international event focusing on gaming, animation, and infotainment, is set to take place from March 14 to 16 in Pune, India, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

At the Skyesports Grand Slam, a top-tier team from both India and Indonesia will clash in a thrilling exhibition match featuring the popular PC game, Counter-Strike 2. This collaborative event not only pays homage to the longstanding diplomatic ties between the two nations but also underscores the burgeoning significance of esports in nurturing global connections.

According to the Niko Partners’ Asia Games Market Report, Indonesia boasts a staggering 180 million gamers, while India impressively claims a gaming community of 421 million, predominantly spanning ages 16 to 64. This extensive gaming populace presents a unique opportunity for both countries to showcase their gaming industries and explore avenues for further collaboration.

A spokesperson from the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi expressed gratitude for the partnership between the Embassy and Skyesports, highlighting the event as an excellent opportunity to commemorate the 75th anniversary through people-to-people contact activities. Planned activities include an exhibition match between teams from Indonesia and India, a panel discussion featuring stakeholders from both nations, and the promotion of Indonesian local games through the Indonesia Pavilion at the Exhibition, showcasing their potential for the Indian market.

Shiva Nandy, the Founder and CEO of Skyesports, expressed excitement about hosting the India-Indonesia showdown at the India Gaming Show 2024 in Pune, as part of the Skyesports Grand Slam IP. Nandy emphasized how this collaboration not only celebrates the enduring diplomatic relations but also underscores the immense potential of esports as a platform for cultural exchange and international cooperation. The showmatch symbolizes the unifying power of gaming, bringing diverse communities together in friendly competition, marking a significant milestone in esports’ global evolution.

The India-Indonesia Showmatch will be a key feature of the Skyesports Grand Slam, an international esports tournament within the India Gaming Show 2024. Alongside the showmatch, the tournament will witness four elite teams – one from India, one from Australia, and two from Europe – vying for the title of champions and a share of the substantial $50,000 prize pool.
